Dr. Maria Donoso, co-director of the InWE International Program, attended the 31st Annual Convention and EXPO of the National Association of Water and Sanitation Enterprises (ANEAS) last week. The event took place in Puebla, Mexico from November 27 to December 1 and addressed wastewater management challenges and solutions.

Dr. Donoso presented on water security issues during a special session of the conference and worked with Mexican representatives to explore and develop potential opportunities for applied research projects between FIU and Mexico.

Over 7,000 people attended the convention and exposition. The event included 2 days of training for operational and technical staff working in the water and environmental field, as well as high level activities for managers, researchers and interested members of the public. Representatives of different disciplines shared their expertise, worked to address scientific challenges, and “explored the technological, financial and cultural alternatives to move from the ‘use-treat-discard’ water paradigm to ‘reduce- reuse- recycle-recover.'”
