Engagement and outreach with the local Keys community is a major feature of FIU’s Center for Coastal Oceans Research (CCOR) with the goal of engaging the community as a whole in science and environmental stewardship.

The Ocean Life lecture series brings renowned researchers and academics to the Keys to engage and inspire people of all ages in marine and environmental science. Hosted by FIU CCOR and the Friends of the Key Largo Cultural Center, the series features interdisciplinary experts from FIU and the Keys conducting marine and environmental research.  The series is free and open to the public. It is held the third Friday of each month at the Murray E. Nelson Government and Cultural Center in Key Largo.
