The BleachWatch program was designed to help better understand increasing coral bleaching and disease episodes that are occurring on southeast Florida’s coral reefs. It relies on citizen scientists to report their observations of coral conditions following their recreational or work-related dives.
These training classes will help expand both this program and the ability to protect Floridas reefs. For dates on BleachWatch intro classes which are free and open to the public, please visit the Florida Reefs website.
The purpose of the Bleachwatch classroom experience is to provide an overview about the BleachWatch Program and visual examples of various levels of coral bleaching and diseases divers may observe and possibly report back to SEAFAN on their own rec dives with dedicated provided materials.
