Les Standiford selected as Torch Award winner

Department of English professor and founding director of the Creative Writing Program, Les Standiford, was selected as the 2012 recipient of the FIU Faculty Torch Award.

An author of 23 books and ten novels, he earned his PhD in creative writing and regularly teaches courses on fiction writing, narrative non-fiction, screenwriting, myth & archetype.

Lester will receive the award Saturday, March 3rd, 2012, at the FIU Torch Awards ceremony. Professor Standiford will be the only FIU faculty member recognized and will join a group of 10 or 11 distinguished alumni, one from each college, who will also receive these awards.

Professor Standiford is only the 10th faculty member at FIU to receive a Torch Award, joining a very elite band.
