CASE RESEARCH AWARD RECIPIENTS

 

 

Dr. Jay Sah, researcher and professor in the Southeast Environmental Research Center (SERC) within InWE, has received the 2017 College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) Award for Research. Dr. Sah has been dedicated to SERC and FIU for over 15 years. His work focuses on understanding the effects of environmental factors on plant communities, from wetlands in South Florida to natural resource management in Nepal.

Dr. Jennifer Rehage, researcher and professor in SERC and the Department of Earth and Environment, has received the 2017 CASE Award for Research. Dr. Rehage’s research is focused on the effects of hydrology on the fish community in the mangrove ecotone, and interactions among native fishes and non-native cichlids in freshwater marshes within Everglades National Park.

Dr. Shimon Wdowinski, researcher and professor in SERC and the Department of Earth and Environment, has received the 2017 CASE Award for Research. Dr. Wdowinski’s work has focused on the development and usage of space geodetic techniques, mainly GPS and InSAR, that can detect very precisely small movements of the Earth’s surface.

CASE SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENTS

 

 

Dr. Tiffany Troxler, Sea Level Solutions Center (SLSC) Interim Director, has received the 2017 CASE Award for Service. Dr. Troxler has dedicated her time to tackling issues like sea level rise through community engagement and outreach.

Dr. Joel Trexler, researcher and professor in the Center for Coastal Oceans Research (CCOR) within InWE, has received the 2017 CASE Award for Service. Dr. Trexler’s work focusses on understanding spatial population and community dynamics in fluctuating environments, primarily the Everglades.

CASE TEACHING AWARD RECIPIENTS

 

 

Dr. Jose Eirin-Lopez, researcher and professor in SERC within InWE, has received the 2017 CASE Award for Outstanding Teaching. Dr. Eirin-Lopez has been with the University for almost five years. His research highlights the genetic, epigenetic and evolutionary mechanisms that underly the adaptation of marine organisms to environmental changes.
