Dionne Stephens, associate professor within the Department of Psychology, has been awarded the American Psychological Associations’ Shining Star Award for her outstanding research and teaching in the area of multicultural psychology and diversity. One of the highest APA awards in this area of focus, it recognizes the efforts of a mid-career psychologist whose research has demonstrated a commitment to multicultural research, teaching, and advocacy, and “whose work is informed and driven by the voices and needs of the communities in which they work.” Stephens will receive this award at the APA’s National Multicultural Conference and Summit in Denver this January.
