Golden Robin Contest: A chance at $10,000

The Golden Robin Contest is back! Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews is gearing up to award a $10,000 scholarship to one student through its partnership with the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival.

Students from the College of Arts, Sciences & Education have won the contest for three consecutive years.

Last year’s winner, Mariet Cardenas, won the competition with her “Merisnard” burger. The liberal studies major’s winning recipe contained chorizo, manchego cheese, garlic aioli, crisp fried onions and arugula.

In 2018, psychology major, Angelic Cox brought her Caribbean roots to the plate with “The Jerk Man Burger.”

Chemistry major, Given Suman, brought the Miami heat to the kitchen with “The 305 Burger” filled with flavors of a Cuban sandwich.

The title and scholarship are once again up for grabs.

“It’s a very simple scholarship in the sense that you don’t have to write an essay or anything but just come up with an interesting recipe,” Cardenas told FIU News. “There is no other scholarship like this.”

The submission deadline is Friday, Nov. 15, 2019.
