Establishing a strong literacy foundation in early childhood education is key to lifelong success. Jumpstart’s 14th annual “Read for the Record” event unites community resources to engage and inspire young children around the nation to fall in love with one of the most inclusive forms of exploration – books.
This year’s selection – “Thank You, Omu!” – will be read by faculty and students in CASE’s Early Childhood Education Program in both English and Spanish. Just like the lead character, an Abuela named ‘Omu’ who makes a stew that unites a community, faculty and students will be canvassing area neighborhoods to unite the unique and dynamic South Florida landscape. Introductory touch-points like this helps better prepare children for entry into kindergarten.
