First ever ComSciCon Miami

On Oct. 5, graduate students from Florida International University, University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University gathered at FIU’s Miami Beach Urban Studios for the ComSciCon Miami 2019 Workshop.

The event kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Mireya Mayor, director of the Exploration and Science Communications Initiative.

Attendees received insight into science communication through several presentations and breakout sessions.

In one breakout session, Dr. Melissa McCartney shared with students how to summarize their manuscript in a tweet.

Nicholas Komar gave the final presentation of the day and focused on the private industry.
