The Miami Book Fair, founded in 1984, provides more than a week of accessible programs to South Floridians and international visitors—all focusing on literary explorations.

Now in its 35th year, the annual event aims to promote reading, encourage writing and heighten an awareness of literacy and the literary arts in the city’s multi-ethnic community.

Several writers featured at this year’s event were FIU CASE Department of English faculty or alumni including:

  • M.J. Fievre
  • Campbell McGrath
  • Lester Standiford
  • Nicholas Garnett
  • Esther Martinez
  • Lynne Barrett
  • Alex Segura
  • Ashley M. Jones
  • Richard Blanco
  • Debra Dean
  • Denise Duhamel
  • Julie Marie Wade
  • Jim Daniels
  • Tom Demarchi

FIU CASE paired beloved children’s books with hands-on interactive activities that featured marine, environmental and physics-related themes—allowing attendees to tie their favorite literary adventures with those waiting just outside their backdoor.
