Student recognized with Trjitzinsky Award

FIU mathematics student, Juan Linares Cabrera, was among eight elite students who received the 2019 Trjitzinsky Award of $3000.

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) chose eight schools in a random drawing to receive this award. FIU’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics then selected Linares Cabrera for this prestigious award to assist in pursuing his career in mathematics.

A senior pursuing his a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences: Mathematics Comprehensive track and a minor in computer science, Linares Cabrera holds a 3.9 GPA and has made the Dean’s List every semester. After graduation, he plans to attend a graduate school to study machine learning and cryptography, combining his passion for mathematics and computers.
