What happens when the most watched television broadcast of the year is set in the Magic City? A showcase of all the capital of Latin America has to offer – from food to fun to the local environments that make this such a unique place.

With Super Bowl LIV taking place at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, February 2nd – FIU CASE will bring much needed attention to one of Miami’s signature ecosystems: the Florida Everglades.

Collaborating with the Everglades Foundation, Ocean Conservancy and NFL Green, the Super Bowl Host Committee’s environmental initiative of the year is “Oceans to Everglades.” It includes events, educational opportunities and sustainability efforts which celebrate the diverse nature of South Florida.

Anchored by the Everglades Foundation, CASE is joining the week-long Super Bowl Live event at Bayfront park to bring the Everglades to the masses at the event’s Environmental Village:

  • Climb aboard an airboat used by scientists when conducting research and stay for a brand new virtual reality experience.
  • Put on VR goggles to enter the world of the river of grass. Glide through the sloughs of the central Everglades, hike to a cypress dome, ride through mangrove estuaries and more.
  • Finish with a unique documentary experience that highlights the breathtaking views along the flow of water from the Everglades to the ocean.

The goal is to engage people – local and beyond – with the world-renowned river of grass and empower them to join the effort to protect its health.

Ready to dive in? Move off the sidelines and get to Bayfront park from January 25th to February 1st. The seven-day event is free to the public and will feature not only the Environmental Village but culinary demos, musical acts and more experiences that highlight Miami’s history.
