Grant Administrator II – BBC

The College of Arts, Sciences & Education is seeking a grant administrator II at the Biscayne Bay Campus. The candidate supports and assists faculty in proposing sponsored research, service projects and other creative activities to federal, state, industry or private sponsors.


  • Assists CASE faculty in proposal and budget preparation. Reviews sponsor’s guidelines to make sure proposals have strict adherence to them. Keeps CASE faculty and staff apprised of time sensitive dates with regard to proposals deadlines, as well as agency-specific regulations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of FIU grants policies and procedures.
  • Supports CASE faculty and staff in completing documentation and forms required by the funding agencies and by FIU Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). Reviews the final proposal package before it gets submitted to ORED Pre-Award in accordance with ORED current policy. Ensures all proposal forms and documents get the appropriate approvals timely.
  • Reviews the award document once the award is received, and when it’s necessary, coordinates the request of Pre-Award Funding and/or Subcontracts. Ensures Subcontracts get executed and purchase orders for subcontracts are requested and issued timely.
  • Assists principal investigators in requesting No Cost Extensions and Continuation proposals.
  • Serves as the college liaison between ORED Pre-Award and CASE personnel working on the proposal and award process.
  • Collects data and prepares reports related to CASE proposals and awards as directed by the supervisor.
  • Provide guidance to CASE department, college administrators, and faculty members on fiscal and administrative grant related matters and submission of grant proposals.
  • Develop and implement internal operating procedures for the CASE Research Development Office, including the development of internal tools that improve the proposal development and submission process.
  • Interpret and implement policies and procedures as they apply to CASE Research Development. May recommend changes on policy and procedures as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience.
  • Experience in grant writing and proposal development.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience in Environmental Science background.
