Students recognized with Guy Harvey Scholarship Awards

The Guy Harvey Scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled full time at Florida institutions of higher education and conducting research related to the biology, ecology habitat or management of fish in Florida’s marine environment.

The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation recently selected FIU graduate students Drew Butkowski, Sarah Luongo and Brendan Talwar to each receive this $5,000 award.

Butkowski studies marine science and focuses his research on the mechanisms and environmental drivers behind coral reef fish while Luongo and Talwar both study biological science. Luongo, a PhD candidate in the Predator Ecology & Conservation Lab, focuses her research on free-ranging Nassau grouper. Tawlar focuses his research on documenting the movements of silky and dusky sharks in the Washington region.
