Environmental sciences associate


The Everglades Foundation is looking for a graduate in environmental sciences to work on a water quality project related to Everglades restoration.

This is a 12-month position located at their Palmetto Bay, Florida office, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate is expected to have basic knowledge of hydrology and water quality with advanced skills in statistics. Hypothesis testing, time series analysis and geospatial analysis with ArcGIS is critical for this short-term position.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Performing mathematical and computational analysis to evaluate water quality data available form various sources
  • Compiling data from different sources related to water quality in the Everglades
  • Processing monitored data and analyzing yearly temporal and spatial changes in South Florida
  • Completing technical evaluations of restoration alternatives to assess the ecosystem response

Recent graduate students and post-graduate associates are eligible for this internship position.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong analytic skills to solve technical problems with result-oriented objectives
  • Strong background in statistical data analysis in ArcGIS
  • Strong knowledge in programming and statistical analysis in R, Matlab or Python
  • Excellent writing skills and experience in communicating results to scientists and engineers in one or more forms
