EMSL Analytical, Inc. hiring Microscopist Microbiology

EMSL Analytical, Inc. – one of the largest environmental testing firms in the nation – is currently seeking to hire a full-time Microscopist Microbiology at their Ft. Lauderdale location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples for fungus (air, surface, and bulk materials – viable and non-viable samples) and bacteria (water).
  • Analysis of samples using classical and advanced methods for microbial and bioaerosol analysis.
  • Record data in a specified manner.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
  • Additional duties include approving final reports following quality control and client interactions.
  • May be required to cross train in asbestos analysis to meet business demands.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Biological Science: Microbiology and/or Biology is preferred.
  • Two years environmental microbiology lab experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with air samples, surface samples and mycology is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be able to multi-task and adhere to requirements of the Quality Management System.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail and follow standard laboratory practices regarding quality control, laboratory equipment use and maintenance and documentation procedures.
  • Must understand custody client confidentiality.
  • Must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysis.
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and meet client deadlines.
  • Must have good computer skills both in typing and MS Office.
  • Must be able to work some weekends and overtime if needed.
