Looking to meet employers and get hired? FIU’s Career and Talent Development office is hosting an Employer Virtual Open House on April 28, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to network with employers and secure a job.

Before attending the virtual event, schedule an appointment with a career advisor. They can help ensure you to make a great first impression with employers. Students can schedule an appointment with a career advisor through Handshake.
Career and Talent Development is offering the following services for students virtually:
- Resume and cover letter review
- Interview preparation and mock interview
- Job search or internship search help
- Career exploration
- General career coaching
In addition, Career and Talent Development hosts virtual drop-in services on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon where you can meet with a career coach for 15 minutes to review a resume or a cover letter, and get answers to general career and handshake questions. Students can attend virtual drop-ins without scheduling an appointment.
Keep the following tips in mind to prepare for the open house:
- Test your equipment to confirm you are ready to communicate via audio/video/chat
- Have your resume ready to be shared virtually
- Practice your elevator pitch
- Prepare questions you want to ask employers
- Prepare responses to interview questions
- Update your Handshake & LinkedIn profiles
- Get contact information from each recruiter to follow up and connect via LinkedIn & Handshake
- Send thank you emails to recruiters you speak to
