Can your Fitbit help your relationship?

Adela Timmons

Adela Timmons, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, spoke to Inverse about her work on using wearable technology to prevent conflict in relationships. While there is still much to be discovered, Timmons shares how technology can potentially aid relationships by alerting couples on when to step away.

Timmons’ research focuses on how people in interpersonal relationships share in their moment-to-moment psychological and emotional states. Intending to improve mental health outcomes for children, couples and families, Timmons is working to develop just-in-time adaptive mobile health interventions using machine learning and wearables.
