COVID-19 brings a fear of increase in child abuse

It’s a stressful time in the world as the coronavirus continues to spread.

Statistics from the Department of Children and Families show calls to Florida’s Abuse Hotline rose more than 30 percent.

Erika Coles, clinical director of the Center for Children and Families, recently shared with NBC 6 how children’s safety nets – teachers – are gone as children no longer attending school. Those who may have been able to notice a change in a child’s behavior no longer see students daily due to the pandemic.
