More than 50 years of oceanic exploration has changed society’s relationship with the planet.
Today, there is only underwater research laboratory in the world – FIU’s Aquarius Reef Base.
Among the visionaries who have lived aboard Aquarius: Sylvia Earle, famed marine biologist and ocean explorer, Chris Hadfield, astronaut and former commander of the International Space Station, and Fabien Cousteau, leader of the historic Mission-31.
Helen Scales took BBC listeners aboard Aquarius in “The Life Sub-Aquatic.”
