FIU Undergraduate to Graduate Program

The University Graduate School (UGS) and the Office of Research & Economic Development (ORED) are excited to announce the launch of the FIU Undergraduate to Graduate Program (UtGP).

The UtGP will facilitate the recruitment of outstanding FIU undergraduate students committed to a specific FIU Ph.D. program by providing support for a research experience with an FIU faculty member during the student’s junior or senior year.

The program is open to all majors (excluding pre-med and pre-law) and consists of a one-term research experience with a faculty research mentor.

Benefits:

  • A one-term stipend of $500
  • Up to $1,000 for research expenses (e.g., supplies, etc.)
  • FIU graduate application fee waived
  • Access to professional development workshops
  • Guidance while applying to external fellowships and graduate school

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have a strong interest in research and in pursuing a Ph.D. at FIU
  • GPA of 3.3 or higher preferred but not required
  • Have identified a prospective research mentor
  • Be on track to graduate by Summer 2021 if you are a senior or Summer 2022 if you are a junior
