For College of Arts, Sciences & Education alumnus Ronaldo Garcia, diversity matters. That’s what drew him to his current role as president at Minnesota’s North Hennepin Community College (NHCC).

While navigating his career, Garcia looked back at his own roots. Growing up in Hialeah and learning Spanish as his first language, he identified more with the minority group of students.

After earning his Ph.D. in Higher Education at FIU, Garcia took on many roles from campus director of learning resources at Miami Dade College to president of Broward College’s south campus. One of his goals as NHCC president is to increase the success and completion rate for diverse students and sustain a healthy environment where all students have opportunities.
