Podcast: Being an education major and remembering our favorite teachers with Anel Velasquez

Education runs deep in Anel Velasquez’s family. Her mother is a language arts teacher. Her grandfather taught mathematics in Cuba. Her aunts are both teaching assistants. Velazquez was that kid who played teacher in her group of friends.

Now, she’s an elementary education major at FIU.

She discussed what inspired her to want to teach at an elementary level, impactful teachers she’s had in her lifetime and what she’s learned from them and about her involvement with Kappa Delta Pi on FIU Honor’s “More Than A Major” Podcast. She also offered advice to students who are indecisive on choosing a major.
