E-Learning Amigos Tutoring was created with the goal of providing virtual tutoring services, free of cost, to help students K-12 in our community succeed as they adjust to distance learning due to the novel Coronavirus.
They are currently looking for volunteers to tutor in various subjects.
Responsibilities
- Attend a 1-hour Virtual Training Session held every Monday from 4-5 pm EST
- Read the Volunteer Handbook prior to being matched with a student
- Complete Virtual Tutoring Sessions on a weekly basis through Zoom
- Allocate sufficient time before your session to prepare accordingly
- Convey professionalism at all times and ensure that your workspace is conducive to learning
- Check-in with parents for the first 5 minutes of your tutoring session to introduce yourself
- Keep notes of tutoring sessions in your corresponding Progress Tracking Notes
- Communicate with parents student progress through the post-session email
- Notify the Program Directors of any changes to your availability within a 24 hours notice
- Report any technical difficulties or concerns to the Program Directors
- Attend monthly Volunteer Meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from 6-7 pm EST.
- Attend virtual open house with parents and students date TBD
Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Current university student or recent graduate
- Available to provide Virtual Tutoring on a weekly basis for at least 2 hours/week
- Able to volunteer for a minimum of 3 months
- Stable internet connection
- Comfortable using Zoom, Google Drive, and Google classroom
- Comfortable working with and communicating with children (K-12) and parents alike
- Not required but strongly encouraged
- Previous tutoring or mentoring experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Valid Background check
