Structured decision making course this Fall

The Tropical Conservation Institute in the Institute of Environment is hosting a virtual course this Fall on the theory, concepts and practice of decision analytic methods in natural resource management

Structured Decision Making: Decision analysis for natural resource management will provide graduate students and scientists an introduction to the requisite components of a formal decision analysis, including:

  1. Problem framing
  2. Establishing quantifiable objectives
  3. Specifying a set of decision alternatives
  4. Employing models to predict the outcomes of each proposed alternatives
  5. Conducting a tradeoff analysis or optimization to select the best identified course of action
  6. Adaptive management
