Pineland trail in Everglades

Everglades National Park (ENP) is seeking one BioCorps intern for a full-time, 6-month internship working in the Florida Everglades.

The BioCorps internship program is a collaborative program which supports biological management, monitoring and research within the Florida Everglades.

The selected intern will primarily work with the fire ecology program in ENP to perform duties related to vegetation sampling in pineland and prairie vegetation/fuel types in accordance with established guidelines and direction. The candidate will work independently, as part of a team and in a leadership role leading groups of volunteers in the field.


  • Use basic plant identification skills
  • Work well as part of a team, as well as independently, with minimal supervision
  • Work independently once trained in specific tasks
  • Work long hours in hot, humid conditions with abundant mosquitoes and other biting/stinging insects
  • Hike long distances (1-2 km) over uneven terrain while carrying 30-40 lbs
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Work a 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. schedule
