The Educational Programs Volunteer at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science will work under the direct supervision of the Education Management Team to assist with educational programs and events held both at Frost Science and virtually.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Frost Science Educators with delivery of science-based lessons with hands-on activities.
- Assist guests in the classroom and throughout the museum.
- Under direction of the education staff support with set-up and clean-up of all activities.
- As directed, help with programs drop-off and pick-up process.
- Serve in a peer-support capacity for other volunteers around education programs and hands-on activities.
- Support education staff with material preparation for educational activities
- Perform all assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Background or strong interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or Education field preferred.
- Interest in science and Frost Science’s mission.
- Desire to work with children in an informal education setting.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual, with good attendance.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to work well with different personalities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to problem-solve and be resourceful.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be 16 years or older.
Schedule requirements:
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 100 hours per year.
- Availability on Monday through Friday is preferred.
