OIC of South Florida seeks educator

The educator will support OIC’s Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, which includes evidence-based pregnancy prevention curriculums: Reducing the Risk (RTR), Making Proud Choices In-Out-of Home Care (MPC) and Love Notes paired with positive youth development and trauma informed educational approaches serving at-risk youth ages 10 to 19.

The educator is responsible for delivering program instruction with fidelity, collecting performance measurement data and implementing positive youth development activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively deliver evidence-based curricula for program participants, reinforcing age-appropriate language and medically accurate instructional strategies.
  • Assist in identifying and securing middle and high schools, alternative schools and community based sites to host TPP educational programming for project youth.
  • Coordinate strengths-based youth development activities.
  • Ensure program activities remain inclusive, promote cultural and LGBTQ sensitivity and enforce anti-harassment protocols.
  • Enter enrollment forms, classroom attendance and fidelity monitoring logs into program database on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Assist in coordinating special events for youth and community stakeholders and the Youth Leadership Council meetings and events.
  • Assist team in coordinating educational support meetings for parents of project youth, securing guest speakers and providing resources and referrals as needed.
  • Routinely review the most current CDC, NIH and state and local vital stats to ensure program materials adhere to medical accuracy and report any findings to the Programs Manager.
  • Conduct research and develop/update program materials for ongoing improvement strategies.
  • Submit monthly statistics to Lead Educator in a timely manner as required.
  • Complete Exit Surveys and Site Implementation Issue forms in accordance to policy.
  • Provide support for program sustainability and resource development efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or related degree.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in education, counseling and/or providing training, mentoring, support to at-risk youth.
  • All applicants must be able to pass a Level II Background Screening as required by the Broward County School District.
