The Institute of Environment is accepting applications for a disturbance ecologist to work with Sparkle Malone. This position is temporary.
Duties include:
- Providing field, lab and training support for the Malone Disturbance Ecology Lab.
- Completing field work which includes day trips to Everglades National Park to measure plant and community physiology.
- Measuring plant and community physiology for greenhouse experiments.
- Organizing undergraduate student projects for three research volunteers.
- Maintaining an independent research project, applying for research and travel grants and producing material for annual reports.
A basic knowledge of disturbance ecology, presenting research, working in collaborative groups, data processing and basic analysis is required. Researchers with field experience working in terrestrial ecosystems in the Everglades is preferred. The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology or environmental sciences.
