The Department of Chemistry is seeking a student lab assistant to join their team of professionals.
Duties include:
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Possess a high sense of responsibility
- Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships and work well in a team environment
- Must also be able to work individually
- Answering phones
- Prepare solutions and provide all materials and solutions needed for the undergraduate chemistry teaching labs
- Assist faculty, staff, adjuncts and teacher assistants with the labs and other tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the Biscayne Bay Campus stockroom and undergraduate chemistry teaching labs
Minimum qualifications:
- Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.
- Requires completion of mandatory EHS lab safety training courses prior to start date.
- Must be able to work in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
- Basic level of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
- Must have taken at least two semesters of college-level chemistry courses.
- Must be pursuing a degree in chemistry, biological sciences or any related science or engineering degree.
