The Institute of the Environment’s Coastlines and Oceans Division is looking for a dedicated and passionate Marketing & Science Communication Assistant as part of the Federal Work Study Program. Hours will vary based on class schedules and needs of the department, but the ability to work on weekdays is preferred.

Job duties include:

  • Assisting with creating materials to advertise Institute of Environment programs, events and noncredit courses in coordination with the communications office in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education.
  • Drafting social media posts, news items and video content to promote Institute of Environment activities in coordination with the communications office in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education.
  • Assisting with Institute of Environment programs held in the Florida Keys. This includes but is not limited to the FIU Ocean Life Lecture Series and non-credit courses held by FIU’s Institute of Environment and the Medina Aquarius Program.
  • Attending community events to educate the community about Institute of Environment activities.

Desired qualifications:

  • A student interested in working for multiple semesters is desired.
  • Transportation and ability to drive to Key Largo is needed. Work location will be between MMC and Key Largo office.
