2022 NRC Nuclear Research Fellowships

The interdisciplinary Nuclear Program is now accepting applications for the Spring 2022 semester.

This is a unique opportunity for outstanding Ph.D. graduate students who pursue nuclear-related projects to obtain research assistantship support from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Prerequisites:

  • Full-time graduate student status or complete FIU application to the radiochemistry Ph.D. track processed through University Graduate School (incoming students)
  • Graduate GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent U.S. resident

Students who accept this research fellowship are obligated to sign the NRC fellowship program service agreement that requires either six months of nuclear-related employment per year of NRC support with a federal or state agency, a DOE lab or company.

How to apply:
Submit 1-4 as one package to Konstantinos Kavallieratos.

  1. Personal statement of research interests (for incoming students) or 1-2 page description of research project, progress and its program relevance (for current Ph.D. graduate students)
  2. Current undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial)
  3. CV/resume including publication/presentation list
  4. Three confidential letters of recommendation
