CASE seeks Student Education Outreach Program Intern

The College of Arts, Sciences & Education at Biscayne Bay Campus is seeking a Student Education Outreach Program Intern to join their team of professionals. The candidate will work directly with the assistant director on a variety of STEAM-based Education Outreach projects and programs.

Examples of duties include:

  • Assisting with the development and delivery of STEAM-based K-12 education and outreach programs.
  • Assisting with on-campus living lab and ecological monitoring projects.
  • Overseeing the propagation of mangroves and other native plants in the CASE shade house.
  • Planning and preparing presentations and activities for classrooms, student organization projects and the K-12 camp programs.
  • Assisting with on-campus and community events, such as beach cleanups and fishing tournaments.
  • Entering data from ecological monitoring and restoration events.

The internship opportunity will have an employee supervisor guiding and mentoring the student throughout the experience. Student and supervisor must review learning goals and objectives and participate in a formal meeting at the midpoint and end of the semester to discuss and complete evaluations.

Desired qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Friendly and courteous while interacting with students and the public.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interest and passion for science and the environment.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in biological/environmental sciences or education is a plus.
  • Ability to speak and give presentations to groups of various sizes.
