FIU’s Medina Aquarius Program is excited to offer The Fundamentals of Scientific Diving – the first micro-credential training course designed specifically for postsecondary students, recent graduates, seasoned professionals and lifelong learners wishing to gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to conduct research underwater. Participation options are available for non-divers and remote learners as well as divers wishing to become qualified as an FIU scientific diver.

The online-only option provides remote learners and non-divers access to the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) learning platform. AAUS covers 13 topics ranging from diving physics and physiology to scientific diving procedures.

The experiential option includes the online components of the class and onsite skills development at the FIU Medina Aquarius Program facility in Islamorada, Fla. This option is designed for certified divers desiring to increase their in-water competence and obtain scientific diver certification.

Enrollment is open until Oct. 15.
