Attending a virtual career fair can help jump start the career of your dreams. FIU’s Career and Talent Development office has planned a virtual career fair to help you connect directly with employers to learn more about current job opportunities.

The ALL MAJORS Virtual Career Fair will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Technical Majors Virtual Career Fair will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Prepare for the fair:

  • Find a quiet location where you can actively participate. Your location should have minimal distractions and a neutral background. Double check your internet speeds and the device you’re using to logon.
  • CTD has selected Handshake as the platform for the virtual career fair. Spend some time before the fair getting familiar with the platform and all its available features.
  • Register for sessions on Handshake in advance. Learn how to register here.
  • Research employers that will be in attendance. Look on their company website, professional profiles such as LinkedIn or Handshake and for any recent articles about the company.
  • Update virtual copies of your resume. You want to ensure you have the most updated version of your resume ready to share with employers.  Before the fair, you should have your resume reviewed and critiqued by CTD.
  • Update professional profiles including Handshake and LinkedIn. Ensure that you have your qualifications such as, your school year, major & GPA are on your profile.
  • Prepare your introduction. Your introduction should be brief and should give employers a snapshot of what you are studying, when you will graduate and what your career goals are. Need help getting started on your introduction? Get more advice here.
